Are there any other public realm (street and public space) projects that should be identified?

The Abbott St Lower Carpark, as described above.

Please tell us why.

There is no mention here of protecting the well-loved Abbott St Lower carpark, immediately next door to the Eastern Curve Garden and also a well-loved community space.

Definitely in favour of the plans for more greenery.

There is no mention of the well-loved Abbott St Lower Carpark, containing The Dusty Knuckle Bakery and 40Ft seating areas, and this is a space that should also be protected.

I think the Curve GArden is potentially at risk from the housing close to it's boundary - planning permission lapsed possibly. I like the scheme for 314 housing units which keeps sainsbury and makes retail that appears to replace the shopping precinct with street pattern - concerns about the higher rents pushing out shops that people use now

What do you think about the objectives identified for the Ashwin Street character area?

Mostly positive

Please tell us why.

Huge amount of flats added to area . had concerns at the time that alot was lost in the process . Greening more good

In the main I am happy but concerned that housing not appropriate here . 6 units only propose on site of temporary Arcola - I like the the Temp Arcola and the way that use has evolved . the plans shown look dull and do not appear in character with the area - music venues , theatre etcv . High rents and commercial pressures will kill the vibe

This has to be improved for pedestrians . I lived on Balls Pond Road 40 years ago and we had a campaign to get the huge lorries off the road

What do you think about the public realm (street and public space) projects identified?

Yes good . Find activity of delivery bikes threatening since they do not drive safely and there appears to be other activities linked with other illegal activities - drug dealing from blacked out cars etc

The objectives seem okay but the D3 site possible look and feel based on these is far too built up. Dalston lane 1-7 should not be overly built up as this will only add to the congestion seen from commuters coming out of the station trying to move along dalston lane or to kingsland high st. If used for commercial units this will only make the area more busy with increased footfall and loitering. It would also block the views of existing balconies of flats and businesses also.

What do you think about the public realm (street and public space) projects identified?

A mixture of green spaces and cafes/restaurants would be better in the D3 site between dalston land and ashwin street. Possibly with makerspaces/coworkerspaces above these, but no more than 1-2 storeys to keep the area feeling like an 'open' space. Outdoor green space would benefit the identified space and connect progressively to the existing public green space along Eastern Curve Garden.

Are there any other public realm (street and public space) projects that should be identified?

If the crossrail underpass happens, keeping the area for green spaces could allow for a an entrance in D3 similar to the character areas seen in Canary wharf.

What do you think about the objectives identified for the Ridley Road character area?

Happy

Please tell us why.

PRP 1 looks like a brilliant improvement to the space - currently there are so many cars, and the extensive grey space makes it an easy place to fly tip & other anti-social behaviours - introducing green space and encouraging more active shop frontages could contribute to the community's perception of the space as somewhere nice to be.

What do you think about the public realm (street and public space) projects identified?

Wholly supportive, in particular of PRP1 - I wonder whether a raised crossing (or speed bump) for the proposed second crossing location would also help calm traffic at night when cars often speed around that bend without sight of what might be around the corner. It will be important to work out whether the bus route needs to be changed as I can foresee potential jams caused by buses trying to get through the narrower carriageway.

Parklets instead of parking spaces could also contribute to the space along Ridley Road becoming a more social and green area.

What do you think about the objectives identified for the Kingsland Shopping Centre character area?

Dissatisfied

Please tell why.

Need for more green areas. The current project proposed by Criterion to create new buildings and shops is concerning in terms of density and height of the buildings.
