Vision & Objectives for Dalston

Since 2018, we have been collecting your views on the key priorities for future change in Dalston. Using this feedback we have now developed a draft Plan for Dalston town centre that we believe meets the needs of the local community and will help us plan for the future.

The draft Dalston Plan is centred on a number of objectives that we have already consulted the community. To help deliver these objectives, we have divided the town centre into seven different Character Areas that each have their own unique set of Opportunity Sites that the Council has identified to help deliver development growth.

The Council's plan is to protect and enhance what makes Dalston special by: 

• Creating greater access to nature and green, open space 
• Facilitating sustainable transport options and high-quality public realm
• Supporting the delivery of high-quality new buildings and affordable homes 
• Supporting a vibrant and diverse town centre, with job opportunities 
• Supporting arts and culture and the night-time economy in Dalston, in a safe way
